How to Communicate: Diplomacy & Tact
The success of any communication is determined in part by the styles adopted both by the deliverer, and recipient, of the message. Some messages are more difficult to deliver than others, and it is especially important to understand and anticipate the possible responses that a difficult communication may elicit. By using diplomacy and tact, you can often avoid unnecessary conflict and achieve the goal of the communication more efficiently. Diplomacy and tact depend on the right choice of words, but many other factors are also influential.
Communicators must be considerate of the non-verbal behavior they use, such as tone and body language, and should use active listening skills to react to their audience and adapt their style as required. With every conversation there are different relationship and situational dynamics that play a role in how people communicate. These dynamics are explored in this course to help learners manage their communications with diplomacy and tact.
